Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, providing excellence in our mission of clinical care, training and education and cutting edge research.

Our Department spans two provinces and several sites, including

• the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in Ottawa (which includes the main 401 Smyth site and the 311 McArthur site)
• the Montfort Hospital
• the Ottawa Hospital (which includes the General and the Civic Campuses)
• the Queensway-Carleton Hospital
• the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group (which includes the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre in Ottawa and the Brockville Mental Health Centre)
• Centre hospitalier Pierre Janet, an affiliated teaching hospital providing French language services in Gatineau, Quebec. 

Research activities occur at the various sites, and are coordinated through the respective research institutes at the respective sites, including:

• the CHEO Research Institute (CHEORI),
• the Ottawa Health Research Institute (OHRI), and
• the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research (IMHR).

Comprised of approximately 180 faculty members (psychiatrists, psychologists and family physicians), we have the necessary critical mass to be an exciting and vibrant Department in the nation's capital.
