Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is an exciting, challenging and rewarding area of medicine. Child Psychiatrists work to improve the mental and emotional well-being of children, adolescents and their families. Compared to adult psychiatry, child psychiatrists work more comprehensively with the 'system' (e.g. parents, siblings, teachers, social workers, etc), and not just the child. Though challenging at times, the rewards are great as there are few things more rewarding than helping a child reach his/her full potential. As a career, child psychiatry is severely underserviced area, and child psychiatrists are actively recruited for and sought out everywhere.
